As a company that was launched in Australia 21 years ago, SLR Productions has a robust infrastructure and has access to the best Australian talent, has the drive to focus on what it does best; creating and delivering successful children’s brands from development to consumer products. From developing, producing, financing and creative infrastructure we have the in-house bench strength to foster successful brands on a global scale.

Meet the team

Suzanne Ryan

CEO, Executive Producer

Suzanne is the Founder, CEO and Executive Producer of SLR Productions, a company she established in 2000 to follow her passion and love of screen content. With more than 30 years experience in the media business, Suzanne has created, produced and invested in hundreds of hours of award winning content which has been exported to 160 countries worldwide. Suzanne is an Emmy Award winning producer, Winner of the Premier’s NSW Export Awards in Creative Industries, a twice recipient of Screen Producers Australia – Children’s Producer of the Year, and Winner B&T Women in Media Producer of the Year as well as many other awards that acknowledge and celebrate her achievements as a Business Owner, Executive Producer and Producer. Suzanne has held two council positions at the Screen Producers Australia, including her current position as Advisor to Council, and has championed the ARTS and the children’s screen sector for decades.

Suzanne is a member of the Screen Producers Australia, The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts and a proud supporter of the Make it Australia campaign. She regularly judges film, television and media festivals including the prestigious AACTA Awards, the Logies and the International Emmy Awards. Suzanne is on the SCREEN FOREVER Market Advisory Board for the annual Screen Producers Australia Conference and contributes her time speaking at conferences both locally and internationally.

Yasmin Jones

Producer, Head of Production

Yasmin is the Producer and Head of Production at SLR Productions. Yasmin leads and manages the company’s production team and pipeline, and works with all major stakeholders on company shows. Yasmin started her career in animation as a Production Assistant for Yoram Gross and became Head of Production during her 10-year tenure. Yasmin was a Producer at Brilliant Interactive Ideas working on 3D animated episodes for Xena: Warrior PrincessKiss: ImmortalsAce VenturaPopeye and Superman as well as managing the company’s motion capture studio and assisted in the establishment of their Singapore division.

Yasmin is the author of The Animation Producer’s Handbook, published by Allen and Unwin in 2006.

Pablo de la Torre

Series Director, Space Nova

Pablo is an Emmy nominated Director for animated productions with more than twenty years of experience in the industry. He recently directed Space Nova and also co-directed the Netflix Emmy winning series Beat Bugs.

Pablo is a proficient and experienced production designer, storyboard artist, storyboard supervisor and director.  His animation portfolio includes Disney’s Timon and PumbaaZeke’s Pad, Skinner BoysGuess How Much I Love You, The Davincibles, Flipper, Blinky Bill, and numerous other productions in various capacities.

Pablo is currently series director on SLR’s second season of the CGI series Space Nova.

Helen Thwaites

Business Affairs

Helen is the Head of Business Affairs at SLR Productions. Helen has more than 30 years of experience in the film and television industry. She is an experienced screen practitioner having held numerous key positions in the industry including General Manager – Southern Star Primetime, Head of Film Sales – Southern Star Film Sales, Head of Acquisitions and Head of Television Distribution – Southern Star Sales. She has also held positions at the ABC as Business Affairs Manager, Commissioned Content (specializing in children’s content) and Head of Acquisitions.

Dean Sutherland

Business Development, Creative Producer

Dean is involved in both business and creative partnerships, content, PDV pipeline, marketing, strategic development, brand awareness and key stakeholder relationships at SLR Productions.

Dean Has over 25 years’ experience in the Film and Media sector and has held numerous key positions at major VFX and Post studios in Australia with Cutting Edge and Frame, Set and Match. The scope of which includes, TV series development, promotional content for tourism and entertainment clients, event and award show production, educational and training videos, film festivals, TV commercials, pitch and sizzle reels and music film clips. Dean has production experience covering as many facets as the content he has produced, including camera, sound, producing, directing, editing, client services and the occasional background talent.

Sammy D

Office Mascot

Having joined SLR as the office mascot in 2009, Sammy D has quickly become a key member of the company.  Having proved himself as loving companion, security, prankster, best friend and greatest cuddler; there is no stopping his abilities or what he can do.  Now the face and voice (bark) of SLR’s animated company logo, Sammy strives to be the star of SLR’s next big show!

Also known as the muppet, poo bear, bubba boo and anything else cute, we are fast learning that this borderdoodle has talent!
